A dental emergency may include severe toothache, swelling of the face or gums, trauma to a tooth, a knocked-out tooth, uncontrolled bleeding, a broken tooth with pain, signs of infection, or pain that stops you from eating or sleeping.
Not every urgent dental problem needs the same treatment. The first visit may focus on pain relief, diagnosis, infection control, or stabilizing the tooth. A final restoration or longer-term plan may be completed later once the emergency is under control.
